Sacramento Business
Sacramento is California's state capital. It is about a 30-minute drive from Solano County. The state capital was originally in Solano County's Benicia, but later moved to Sacramento in 1849.
The population for the region approaches 2,000,000. Sacramento County has a population of 1,223,499 (year 2,000 census). The region, like Solano County, is one of Americas fastest growing areas.
The state capital region is in the flat San Joaquin Valley, nestled between the breath taking, mystical, Sierra Mountains (often compared to the Swiss Alps), and the hilly general San Francisco Bay Area. The Sierra Mountains, accessible by highways 80 or 50, boasts summer and winter ski resorts in nearby Lake Tahoe, providing year round recreation.
